Finished this book just now. I have no idea that I was reading a true historic base fiction. Haha what an ignorance. Anyhow, I like the book.
The story is about Sancha de Aragon, princess of Naples and illegitimate daughter to the coldhearted duke of Calabria (briefly king of Naples), is used to establish ties to the feared and influential House of Borgia when her father betroths her to the younger scion, Jofre. The marriage brought her (after some events) to Rome where she lives with the Borgias. She soon learned who the Borgias are and at first she herself had fallen to her brother in law, Cesare Borgia. cesare Borgia is known in history as a murderer and adventurer. She also then befriend with Lucrezia (Cesare' sister who after that married with Sancha' brother, Alfonso) and learnt one of the Borgia's secret - canterella; a deadly poison.
A book about incest, corruption, power hunger, treachery, revenge, love, loyalty; all blend in one.
I love the book even though at some early pages I started a bit slow for I have to recall the years (took place around 1400 - 1500) and the family tree of the Aragon and the Borgia; who is who and so forth.
